hello there.

I have always considered my ability to put thoughts into words on paper a gift.  Writing is my gift.  I never thought that God would give me more than one.

But alas, people have told me that I have a gift for photography as well.   Maybe I do, maybe I don't.  This site is just me trying to figure that out.

I began this little adventure in April 2012 when I first photographed baby Nick (perhaps it is a big adventure, I'm not so sure).  Since then, I have made a few discoveries:

I like people.  I like their stories.   Photography lets me retell those stories.

Life is a beautiful thing.   It is that much more beautiful through a camera lens.

Improvement is always possible.  Pete Souza, official White House photographer, once said, 'My favorite photograph is the one I will take tomorrow.'  I can always make tomorrow's picture better than today's.  Thanks Mr. Souza.

And lastly, just as I used to say that I write to move people, I suppose that I photograph to move people too.  Maybe someone will look at one of my images and smile at the beauty of the light or the angle of the shot.  Maybe they will be inspired to try out this art for themselves.  Maybe they will look at it knowing that in ten years, they can pull out that same image and remember exactly how they were feeling at the moment it was taken.   I like moving people – that’s the reason I do this job and always will be.

But maybe, just maybe, I photograph to move me too.
